Twenty Five years ago when I got sober, I was told not to quit smoking. They said don't make any big changes in the first year of recovery. When I quit smoking at about ten years it was really hard to do. I thought it would have been so much easier if I would have done it while I was in treatment, I was crazy going through withdrawls from drugs why not be crazy all at once. I think it's about time we change the thinking about this issue.

"I personally fight the placement of alcohol near displays for minors. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Marijuana is dangerous over the long term, and when mixed with driving is as dangerous as drunk driving. "

As conveniently omitted by Gogek, the article actually reads that marijuana stores are required by the city ordinance to be at least 600 ft from one another, unlike with beer and liquor stores. Seems like we aren't just talking about placement near minors. The fact is that the City Council of San Diego has been trying to significantly reduce if not eliminate all pot stores. Marijuana is far less impairing than alcohol, the latter of which can kill you if you drink too much. People under the influence of marijuana are far less inclined to get behind the wheel than alcohol abusers with their reckless abandonment, so no they are not equally dangerous. When we have so many children violently abused today by alcoholic parents and marriages on the rocks (no pun intended) because of alcohol, I certainly don't believe we should be driving more people in our society to drink.

Alex's rant is a prime example how the pro-marijuana liars attempt to distort the facts. Dr. Gogek's article is rational and well thought out, yet Alex can't handle the facts and uses emotionally charged words to distract the reader from the issue at hand.

I love these "anti-drug" phonies who protest businesses that sell marijuana, a much safer substance than alcohol, but are close-mouthed about alcohol being sold at convenience stores (right next to lollipops) all over their city. FACT #1 The politicians take big money from alcohol and you people will bite your tongue so you can continue getting "anti-drug" funding from these legislators. You know who your daddy is.

You are right on the money. The idea medical marijuana regulation is a joke. We have 180 stores operating illegally now. Why would anyone think that they would comply with an ordinance or a tax. Criminal don't look
